Reel Contender Launches New Sci-Fi Podcast “Under The Citadel”

When you take a step back from the monotony of daily life and realize what a wonderful world we live in, you will hear complaints also. You will hear about inequality. You will hear about efforts that go unrewarded. You may even hear a 19-minute podcast that intrigues you yet leaves you wholly unfulfilled.

While we binge watch episodes of our favorite shows and try to squeeze as much content as possible into our small timeframe, some things have easily glanced over.

The amount of time it takes to craft, construct, edit, rewrite, launch and promote a successful podcast is daunting. While each listener craves more content producers and artists such as CJ Lindsey and Jess Lindsey, respectively, search for more hours in the day.

That is not a negative.

Brandon Porter, head writer of the program will soon face the same dichotomy of his peers. Thankfully, Porter and his wife Angela, have helped create a 20-episode journey entitled “Under The Citadel.”

Reel Contender bills the show as:

“A bi-weekly narrative podcast. In a city where science-fiction is a reality and superpowers are common, one local man reports the news as he sees fit from a ham radio. He explores exotic topics like time linearity, prison quotas, and nefarious HOAs. Each episode tells a self-contained story, delving into the underbelly of a city that never sleeps.”

The story begins with an opening reminiscent of listening to “The Twilight Zone” with my father. Rod Serling’s spirit can be heard as “The Man Who Stood Outside Time” begins. It quickly prompts the listener to ponder valid questions about life, time, and even challenges our definitions of linearity. In addition to the robust tale, “Under the Citadel” presents the listener with a melodic and appropriate song called “Cove of the Firefly” from an inspiring band, Grove.

While your first inclination may be to wait for the story to unfold and listen to it in one fell swoop-I urge you to reconsider. As I recall, quite fondly I may add, the suspense between each episode can only boost the level of enjoyment for the next.

Rod Serling would agree.
